This is "acceptable" only in a warranty determination. It is NOT acceptable on a Saab engine in reasonably good condition, and not normal for any other engine I'm aware of. Even my Harley (air-cooled, of course) gets 5000k miles/qt, for krissakes. I have NEVER had any of my five Saabs use ANY measurable amount of oil between changes, with two going well over 100k miles. My present Aero does not move from the dipstick in 10k miles.

Have you any evidence to present for this claim? I doubt this very much, as the Castrol Syntec 5w50 matched up well against a Mobil 1 sample in a test with four RP types that I sent you about a year ago. In the tests I've seen, AMSOIL (oops, caps lock stuck momentarily) doesn't performance any better than M1. I know, the tests submitted are too tough and we've discussed this before.
