Sounds pretty normal. Some of the MB auto trannys do not pull in drive at idle. You can only guess why the idle speed is higher in gear than in neutral, it may have to do with vibration, cooling, etc. Change the fluid and clean the filter every 25K km and pay attention to any changes in shifting. A number of repairs can be made reasonably and without removing the tranny. Best to do repairs right away before the tranny turns to trash. Avoid backing up far and or fast to prevent fried governor seals.
