Keep this in mind: The odds are that you won't use the $1000-worth in three years. Why? Because the company is in this proposition to make a profit, and they're using actuarial experience to determine the odds they will come out ahead by insuring you. What exactly is covered in this warranty? You might be surprised what is left out.
If you're a moderate-to-zealous DIY'er, I'd say no. Otherwise, you might consider it, but I still would balk. The engine and transaxle more than likely will give no trouble, at least up to 100k when the warranty expires. You may get nickle and dimed a bit along the way, but I'll bet your flow of small change won't add up to a grand.
Motor mounts? Maybe. Heater core? Almost impossible if you use Bar's Leaks. CV boots and/or joints? Likely, but that may not be covered. Check the fine print! Just maintain it with a religious fervor and I think your chances are good to let it go.
