Quick Survey - Speedometer Error

For years, many people have been reporting to me as much as a 10 MPH error on the 9000 when traveling at freeway speeds (reading high). I never could verify this on my car, in fact with the automatic, I measured a scant 3% error, which seems acceptable.
However, just this weekend I recalculated it (same method - mileage markers on the freeway and a stopwatch), and was shocked to see that I was going about 60 mph when my speedo indicated 66 mph. That's a 10% error! No wonder people seem mad when I set the cruise control at 5 mph over the limit...
I am using the {sun-visor} recommended 205/55/15 tires on my car, the only change from stock being a 15 x 7 wheel vs a 15 x 6 wheel. Oh, and when I measured the 3% error at 60 mph, my car had the automatic transmission. I believe the wider wheel stretches the tire slightly, and decreases the overall rolling diameter slightly, but to the tune of 7% ???
Does anyone else think that a 10% speedo error is a bit much?
What kind of error are you all seeing? Thanks!
