.....had the 66k service done today, as a matter of fact. Coming from a car that did 0-60 in about 4.5secs, I initially started looking for something as fast (Mitsubishi Evos, Nissan Skyline etc), but frankly, there isn't a lot under about 50k GBP that could touch the Impreza, so I went for an entirely different type of car (plus I fancied a bit of luxury for a change - and I have always fancied a 9k Aero). I really miss the 4wd traction - a 350lb/ft 9k Aero with 4wd would have to be my ultimate compromise car at the moment. Has anyone tried to fit a Cosworth drivetrain to a 9k? Just a thought....! I believe all the next generation Saabs will be based on a 4wd floorpan, which should make things interesting!
I have to say, my boredom threshold on cars is about 18months, so don't hold your breath - I'll probably be changing again in about 12months. May do a few tweaks to my car, but it is so standard and so immaculate, it seems a shame to spoil a classic.
9ks are great cars, but they aren't Imprezas on the handling front. A mate of mine picked up his new TVR Griffith 500 last week.........Now there's a car I might consider - totally insane. You can pick up early ones for about 12k GBP.......
