Not to contradict any of the good information below, it is all true in general. But keep in mind that RPM (revolutions per mile)can vary significantly between different manufacturers of the same tire size. Check the maufacturers web site to get the exact tire size of the model your considering to accurately calculate spedometer error.
I recently upgraded from a 195/65/15 to a 205/60/15 and was concerned about spedometer error as you are. I liked the Firestone's specs, but ended up buying the Kumho 712 because it is larger and causes less spedometer error. Check it out.
