Richard
I am running on LPG too, and have been since I bought the car second hand in Nov 2000. I think the car has now done over 30,000 miles on LPG (7,000 miles in my hands). My MPG on LPG is 19 (imperial) on a second Generation Landi-Renzo kit (LCS 1) (the vaporiser is built for turbo use (with a feedback tube to compensate for inlet manifold pressure)).
I put a long post on this BB on 24 Feb 01 about my experiences. Hopefully the link will work, if not search for my name and look at the post on that date.
I think I should get better mpg and I might try replacing the Lambda probe, as it has been in there quite a while and LPG does burn hotter than petrol. At current UK prices LPG useage is costing me under 9 pence per mile.
To answer the other query in this thread both Propane and Butane are classed as LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) with Autogas being mostly Propane (normally well over 80%) and the remainder can be propane). This ratio can be different on continetal Europe,(and presumably the USA) as it depends on what type of oil is being refined. LPG is normally flared off by the refiners, a small proportion is used in domestic heating, camping and now Automotive uses.
Finally my vehicle is a full turbo (200BHP). I have just had the AC repaired and the courtesy car supplied by Howe Engineering was an lpg powered '94 9000 CDE Griffin, with a later engine, that has been tweaked.....it goes very, very well. 242 mile round trip, mostly 80mph motorway cruise (in some heavy rain on the M4 on Tuesday) and some hills returned 22.8mpg (imperial) on LPG.
