Here's what I'd do (but them I'm pretty anal):
1) Fill gas tank all the way to the top and and a moisture ihibitor. Both of these prevent condensation in the fuel which will make it run terribly and possibly rust fuel lines.
2) Change oil shortly before parking it.
3) Drive car until it is absolutely warmed up before parking it. This burns off any water in the oil. Try not to idle too long before turning off.
4) When in its final parking place pull the fuel pump fuse to kill the engine. This keeps corosive fuel out of the combustion chambers.
5) Pull the plugs/DI cassette and put a teaspoon of oil (or use a viscous spray oil) in each combustion chamber. Replace the plugs/DI and turn the engine a few times on the starter. This helps prevent the chambers and cylinders from rusting.
6) Put some of that silica stuff that absorbs moisture and comes in shoeboxes in the interior. It's available cheaply in bulk and can be reused. Consider some mousetrap (not with real cheese!) for the floor if you have rodent problems.
7) Vacuum interior, wax exterior, and coat rubber (weatherstripping, etc.) in silicon spray or a good protectant, inflate tires to maximum rating and jack car up. Feel free to put a dust cover on it. If the car is going to be around electric motors seal the tires in plastic (the O3 breaks down rubber.)
8) Remove the battery and store it somewhere else. (no point in risking leakage.)
9) When restarting for the first time turn engine over until oil pressure light goes out with the fuel pump fuse still removed. Change oil either now of very soon. Then fire it up and drive away!
I think this is everything, but I'll post other things if I forget. And yes, it is overkill. You could probably just park it, fire it up and it'll be fine. If you do use the "drive every month" option be sure that it is driven until completly warmed up (oil, not just coolant.) Either way should be fine though.
