I've noticed the same thing on 96 9000, haven't run the 97 at night with A/C on yet, we'll have to see what it does. The 96 has had the battery cable recall completed. The voltage drop appeares to be due to the A/C clutch engagement and fan starting. The fan draws a lot of current starting and getting up to speed. This in combination with a slow responding VR maybe what we are seeing. A lot depends where the display voltage is connected, I have measured 0.3 volts change in the instument panel circuit just by turning the dash lighting up and down. May have to get the data aqusition board and laptop out and trace a few voltages.
