I've never been a big fan of the V6 cars. Some folks like them, but you have to stay on top of the rubber band, er timing belt, and some simple maintenance tasks aren't so simple (like getting to half the spark plugs). But the V6 is a gutsy engine.
I'd go for a late '91 9000T, with the 2.3l. Some folks have had problems with the early 2.3, but many more haven't. If the engine oil has been changed frequently, it helps. The early 2.3 turbo has guts to spare, and the car doesn't have TCS. It'll also be cheaper than a 94. If the car has been well cared for, I'd go with the 91. If it hasn't been cared for, I'd stay away from it, no matter what year or price.
TCS was available in '92, so some, if not all turbos, will have it. I wouldn't rule a car out because of TCS. Many TCS-equipped cars run without any TCS problems. But if you're worried about TCS, avoid any TCS car from 92-94. The TCS OFF switch doesn't fix the limp-home mode problem. Limp-home happens when the TCS detects a fault (real or not), and the OFF switch has nothing to do with it.
