I agree with Shahan, you aren't leaning the seatback back, you disconnect the seat tracks, and lean the whole assembly backwards. The idea it to access the bottom of the seat to undo the hooks that hold the seat covers on.
When I first did the job, I would remove the seat from the car. Not all the way, just out onto the driveway, and left the seat belt attached (one less thing to mess with). Of course, this works if you're fixing the seats on a nice day. If the seat heater fails in the middle of winter, get the seat into the house.
With practice, I've gotten to the point where I can do what I need to with the seat in the car, just leaning it backwards to get access to the bottom, then straight up to solder the wire, then back to reattach the seat cover.
