The longer the hose, the longer it takes for a pressure change to reach the opposite end. In the world of manual boost control, this equals a higher likelihood of pressure overshoots. The wastegate actuator sees the turbo's pressure a bit later than it should so the turbo spools past max boost before dropping back down to the set point. This condition is always present to some degree, but the severity is directly related to the length of the hoses in the system. Having a large pressure overshoot with a manually controlled system will mean that you have to lower the boost pressure enough to prevent the overshoot from triggering fuel cut. Thus, it is desirable to reduce hose lengths as much as possible if maximum boost is required. I have seen pictures of boost control systems where the controller is almost in contact with the turbo itself -- hose runs were only a few inches each! The plastic BPC solenoid would not be happy running at those temperatures.
I really can't say what effect longer hoses would have on the stock electronic boost system. It is possible that the Trionic would be able to adapt somewhat to a small change, but making the hoses much longer than stock would likely cause overshoots. Of course, there's really only one way to find out, though...
