to modulate the coolant fan, the trionics has the capability to slightly enrichen the mixture after sometime should the coolant continue to rise to a dangerous point- fuel is an effective combustion coolant in a petrol engine.
The Block coolant sensor primary function is to adjust the fuel mixture via the computer to cover all operating conditions _ cold start(Very rich), warm up(somewhat rich), and then normal running (somewhat lean) then hot running (rich), this is where the fan sensor range is beyond high speed and the computer provides additional fuel and the engine goes very rich, more so than cold start rich. The block coolant sensor is located in the intake manifold between cyl 2&3 intake down tubes on the rear of the block just below the fuel rail. You will lose coolant if this is removed so be ready to screw in the new one when you do - but I would just measure all of them-- easier.
