I recognise the general idea of DI knock detection from a book I read at University (one day in the library - I was bored and should have been reading up on circuit theory or control engineering or something instead...) but it was not commercially available at the time. I didn't remember the exact mechanism of knock detection.
However, and you mentioned this elsewhere too, I had not thought to disconnect the speed sensor rather than the BPC solenoid, but it makes sense, as the Trionic should not try to adapt to this (fault) condition. I had wild fuel cutoff the other day when I reconnected the solenoid after measuring base boost, and had to disconnect the Trionic and re-adapt.
However, we are wandering well off the thread. Perhaps we can continue this fascinating discussion another time?
