you may wish to have the head looked at with a cam dowel or line bore check to really see if the head needs replacing. this is a clamp fixture which simulates the head being bolted to the block. This requires a precision ferranti testing machine which most Saab dealers do not have only precision machine shops.
The head removal gives you a break on the timing chain work should drop from 3 hours to 1.5 hours. Head build up is about 3.5 hours and includes new seals and touch up on valves seals. removal and install is 3.5 hours, thermostat is less than flat book rate because head is off should drop from 1.2 to less than .5. Cassette is .5 because Saab installs a new set of plugs at same time for warranty. so adding this up should be about 11 hours if your dealer is giving you a break rather than flat rating everything. There could also be about .5 for diagnostics after install and test. Add an hour for coolant, oil change and filter replacement. sorry to hear about your problem. Do you have a good shop there where you are?
