Steering column: unlikely, except for the pinch bolt at the bottom.
Steering rack: worn and in need of replacement, but I'm told this isn't how they usually die.
Steering rack bushes: mine would allow the rack to move side-to-side 1/4" before moving the wheels. Temporary fix - seriously overtorque the mounting bolts. Doesn't last long, though.
Track rod ends: hold your hand around them and feel for movement while someone jiggles the wheel.
Lower swivel joints: test as for track rod ends.
Lower control arm bushes, front and rear: with the car jacked up, lever the control arm away from the subframe and feel for any play front and rear.
Can't think of anything else.
