Perhaps my exclamation marks in the text are not obvious enough. If we had smileys enabled on this board, my post would have a big wink next to it!
The banter on the scoobynet board is always all good fun - making digs at Mitsu Evo VIs, and RS Cosworths, and Honda (Acura) Type Rs etc, when in actual fact, the majority respect each others choice of cars - it's just a "mine is better than yours" type thing, more often than not encouraging people to modify their rides still further. We have our in-jokes in the UK as much as you guys, it seems (Essex girls and all that, eh Bill?) I had assumed already that it is all tongue in cheek - just wondered if this was a mainstream joke amongst the motoring cocgnoscenti of the US.
My grandad drove 5 Jaguars on the trot until he gave up driving at 81. He wouldn't drive anything else during that time - despite the dismal reliability, appalling build quality (at the time) and massive fuel thirst. If I can overcome my own prejudice, I will buy a Lotus Carlton/Omega one day - I have always wanted one, but its a Vauxhall, for goodness sake!!!
Cheers,
Zip - maintaining tongue firmly in depths of right cheek...
