Sully ..interesting that you mention that..I just installed new headers on my beater (86 Honda Civic)..dont laugh..(its a ton of fun like a 100hp lawn mower for the road)and the new design had the O2 sensor in a different place so I had to splice in some wire, provided by the header manufacturer. The wire on the sensor is ultra fine multi strand type...maybe 50 or more strands and the splice-in was thicker strand , maybe 20 strands..I didnt like what they provided so I used some that was even thicker. Anyway for the test run i chose to drive it to work..45 miles one way..the check-engine light came on about half way thru the trip. On the return home it was fine. I have since driven it around town on 10-15 mile runs with no problem. If I replace the coarse wire with finer gauge will it make a difference ? ..this car seems to start and run and run despite whatever I do to it. Not very safe..but Honda reliabilty is amazing.
