Yesterday, I changed the brake hoses and fluid on my '96 Aero. Goodridge stainless steel braided hoses and DOT 5 fluid. The new hoses made quite a difference to the pedal feel.

When I bled them, I used a pressure bleeder (Gunson's Eezi-Bleed) that I have been using on my cars for about 16 years. The front ones bled fine (and the fluid I used was clear, just like water, so no problem telling it from the old stuff, which wasn't really that old). However, the rears would not bleed much. Some fluid came out, then it stopped. I ended up using the two-person procedure from the Haynes manual - holding the pedal down with the ignition on to let the ABS pump the fluid out.

Any ideas why my pressure-bleeder didn't work on the rear brakes? Is there something I could have done differently to make it work?
