want. The crosshatch pattern is only to 'mate' the NEW piston rings to the cylinder walls. Smooth (I know that aircraft cylinders are chrome plated for lubrication purposes) means better effeciency. Strange that Kyle has glazed cylinder walls. My 900 T16 had 214K miles on it and still had the crosshatch pattern on it when I had to change the head gasket. I've seen this quite often on the 2.0 liter engine.
