In my opinion, it is not the wheel bearing. This should only be heard when you are slowly (creeping) accelerating from a stop. This is also a higher pitch 'rubbing' noise, not the worn brake pad grind. If you can make the sound constantly happen, you should be able to tell if it is a bearing by making slow looping turns, shifting the weight of the car from side to side. If it goes away when you shift the weight from side to side, it is a bearing. By putting extra pressure, it should make the bad bearing fire. When you shift to the other side, it should take the pressure off and nothing should be heard. I am thinking it is the brakes with your description though....good luck
