I have no idea what cam the 73 has in it. The block came from a 79 900 that we had parted out back in 1990. The head/cam origin is unknown as we had quite a few laying around back then too.
I drove both of them this morning, and hands down, the 73 is more fun to drive.....much more responsive when the accelerator is pressed....the 75 almost seems to have a bit of lag to it.
Top end is still up in the air. I don't think the gearing in '73 allows for a higher top speed than the 75. Like Kevin had stated, the rpms are up there and the engine is noisy. The 75 only has about 150 miles since the re-build, so I haven't tested the upper limits yet. Since that MSS built engine in it can red line at 8000+ rpm's, does that mean the car can go 150+ miles per hour?(if the gearing allowed it). My need to go fast days are in the past, but 15 years ago I would have already pushed it past 100 to see what it could do.
