Chris, Take the shifter/ignition assy apart. You will find something broken or bound up...most likely invoving the reverse lockout gear. Again I'll state that if that was a new ignition switch, don't waiste your time replacing it without an ignition gear set from Saab. While your doing this, remove the reverse lock gear, and you will never deal with your ignition switch again. There is a reason why Saab is the only car make with this retarded feature. As Dan stated, the return spring is self-contained within the ignition switch itself. If you did put in a new switch....The problem HAS to be from the reverse gear lock. Look in the archives on this board as well as the C900 one. You will quickly see the proper way to address this issue. Best of luck.
