Oh, I missed the bit about the odometer. Mine only worked about half the time, so I pulled it out, and found a split gear. VDO (now owned by Siemans it would seem) don't carry spares (not really a suprise!), and all they could suggest was gluing it. Which I had already done. I havn't had a chance to drive it since then as I've been retro-fitting an APC system, and been laying with a 900 bootlid as a temporary replacement for the rather rotten original. I'm going to look into getting the 900 modified to match the original profile. It's 98% there already, and has third brake light, better demisting, and MUCH better rust resistance! 77-79 cars are prone to rusting a lot more than either side. No idea what went wrong!
