As mentioned, there is no reverse synchro. If you sit in neutral with the clutch engaged, the input shaft is spinning, along with the cluster gear. The reverse gear engages directly with the cluster gear, so if the cluster is still spinning, the teeth can actually get chipped or broken.
After disengaging the clutch, the gears will continue to spin for a bit. Putting slight pressure on any forward gear will stop this rotation through drag on the syncho. I usually use second, but only because the motion from second to reverse is an easy one.
