Best is to let the machine shop carry out all the work. no worry about valves as there are NO valve stem seals in B engines ! Cylinder walls may wear also on lo milage engines. When I bought my 1975 LE it was in a very bad shape and had only 44000 miles. I managed to reach up to 63000 miles when the block died and the wear was so great. since the rebuild, this engine ran 226000 hard miles (towing, extreme hot and humid weather, fast cruising etc.)and still going VERY strong.
