I have no idea how my car was treated during its' first 17 years. The main problem here in Israel is the water that contains a lot of calcium and most people including workshops use it for the cooling systems. It ruins the heads causing cavities and it looks like a metal eating animal just bit the aluminium. When I bought it, the cylinder head was beyond repair, so I replaced it and I knew by that tme that the block rebuild is close. I head the cylinder head taken off once since and could very easily see the hone marks on the walls. As my engine is still very clean inside (replaced camshaft 3 weeks ago),I believe that the walls are still in good condition. I know personally some very high milage 9000s and NG 900s that are in this good shape, and this has to do only with an oil change carried out at the right intervals using good oils, and using distilled water with tha antifreeze.
