I have spent a lot of time in the last few years trying to solve NLA parts proplems with 99's. I bought the last few 99 windshield gaskets that Saab had a couple years ago. In that process I'm sure I would have come across the supersede to a 900 part. Is it possible you were looking for an early 99 gasket that superseded to the later 99 gasket? There are/were two versions of the 99 gasket, early and late, the basic difference being that the parting strip on the later version was four pieces with metal corner pieces in all four corners like the 900. Please recheck your understanding of the difference in 99 and 900 windshields. I laid a 99 gasket on top of a 900 windshield yesterday and the lower edge of the gasket is obviously 1-1/2 to 2 inches shorter. After your first response to my posting I measured the glass on both cars, and the 900 is larger.
I hesitate to say 'you are wrong' except in cases where I know it may cause someone to prepare to do a project and find half-way thru that the parts are not going to work. Several of us 99'ers in the Northwest went thru this to install windshields in 99's, and determined that in the near future when new 99 gaskets were not going to be available we should be able to use a 900 gasket with a section removed from the lower side center. Something you mentioned has me reconsidering this relative to the edge on the 99 gasket that secures the dash cover, the 900 does not use this detail and thus there may be no edge to secure the edge of the dash cover with a 900 gasket. I hope we can straighten this out - I wish a 900 gasket would work, as I figure they will at least be available for a few years. Bob
