Kevin, there is no way to change shafts and retain the chain in its position on the aux chain wheel. I appreciate your reply but my question remains unanswered. Why is there a timing mark on the auxillary cog wheel? NOTE: There is no inherant defect in the longevity with the fine tooth idler, it simply has not been proven that the shaft will need changing eventually just because of mileage or age. Sucessful Water pump replacementon a 77 or later fine tooth B motor, when replaced in sito is poor ( 50 % ? ) ONLY BECAUSE a longer, pull power unit, pull the aux shaft out first method was not used. If long method used,(pull the aux shaft) there is no worry or concern about sucess.
