I've done that job on that block at least 4 times since 1990. All I can figure is the ebay shaft wasn't geared correctly, cus the old shaft that was in there worked fine for many thousands of miles(just dribbled water). I destroyed in trying to remove the impellor, so it wasn't re-usable this time. I haven't torn the engine apart yet, so I'm assuming the shaft stripped out. What other reason for the grinding type noise then the temp gauge pegging red? Hell, the car ran great for at least seven days of on and off driving before this happened.....and many explosions to red-line on the tach too!
