The fan in my '69 95 is the first one I came to in the junkyard that looked pretty thin, it is from a 1980 Nissan 310--probably not the easiest particular vehicle to find these days, but it works fine. The motor was still available new from Nissan a few years ago, 21598-M6600. When I get into it again I will be looking at fans from recent Subaru Legacy or Forester models, easier to find/replace and quite thin. I do not know if there is any functional difference between pushers and pullers but tend to doubt it. I remember that I had to remount the bottom of the radiator farther forward to get clearance between the fan and the timing cover. This might be avoided if you could fit a pusher, and if you fit a pusher you might not need to cut the snout off the timing cover. Quite thin fans are also available as generic items, check with a performance-oriented supplier or the usual catalogs or NAPA Performance and Specialty Equipment catalog PSE02/15-4021. There is a version of the timing cover used on some industrial engines that is flat on the front, no snout for the fan bearing, Ford P/N 425624. Please post details of what works for you. email me if you have further questions.

Why do you HAVE to convert to electric? How are you going to control the fan off/on?
