The V4 cooling conversion is simple and an improvement to that prehistoric fan blade mechanism. Do the job right once and be done with it is a great philosopy. First you will have to cut that potrusion from the timing cover, because it simply makes things easier in terms of room to fit a larger fan. This goes for the 900 fan. all youmust do is remove the grill, radiator from the car. Take off that plastic fan ther you will have the shroud/ bearing exposed. Buy yourself a dremel or beter a angle cut off tool form Sears. and metal cut off discs. I first must say if you are not good with electric potential dangerous power tools, dont attempt it. it easy to hurt yourself. Cut to the timing cover flush.. Cut at that differnet points around the extension until you see yellow sparks..an indication that you are cutting into the steel shaft. clean the chips very well. buy a freeze plug. install with silicone or the right stuff. Now you have room for a fan. I bought a slim fan from a auto parts store about 75.00 it came with mounting brackets. which fastens to the radiator braces. I installed a thermo switch from a 900, wired it directly and it works well. But it is wise to upgrade the alternator because when the fan runs, the voltage regulator goes to 12. I plan to upgrade the alternator..Check Gary Piland old posts. He is runnign a 75 amp alternator in his bathtub. I will get rid of the radiator eventually , but that requires some mods to the radiator brackets
