When I was in the army years ago they taught me how to deal with a sucking chest wound. Unfortunately that training hasn't helped with this problem. I've implemented all the advice and I still have a lean rough-running engine that won't idle without some choke. I pulled the intake off to make sure there wasn't a crack or gasket problem. There wasn't anything obvious like warping or a crack. All of the gasket edges looked good with no sign of leaking. I adjusted the valves again since I was in there and they were all pretty close to spec. Once again I sealed the vacuum ports with rubber caps to test the engine but it sang the same tune. I sprayed the the carb and intake with the gas dryer solution and did not find any holes. The throttle valve seems tight and I gave it some heavy spray while the engine was running. It still has the same symptom of running lean which would indicate that it is sucking air. When I had the carb out yesterday I cleaned it very well and the jets and seats seem pure. I flushed all the passage ways but I guess there could be a small piece of trash somewhere. I appreciate all the help and would ask you to dig deeper into your bag of SAAB tricks. Thanks
