73 V4 engine stripped and here's what I found...help!

So my next step in the restoration of my 73 96 was to strip the engine...it had been smoking at idle and I expected to find really worn bores and rings. I had previously replaced the valve stem seals to no avail. Claimed milage on this car is 42000 miles...but given the chewed pinion I think it's 142000....car is solid, but from Texas...so no rust, though it does need a repaint.
1. Rings and pistons looked pretty good, though a significant wear ridge was at top of all 4 bores. Pistons came out easily...didn't get stuck on those ridges.
2. Crank and bearings in great shape...no scoring..no wear. Camshaft and balance shaft all good...BUT...cam AND balance shaft bearings all broken up...bits in the sump....these bearings are competely shot. I cannot find a supplier on the web...and do these bearings have to be reamed into place???? That middle cam bearing looks impossible to change!
3. Do I rebore this engine....or use nw oil control rings with a light hone? I will probably do 5000 miles in 10 years in this car when it's all done, so don't want to spend major money on it...have too many other cars to keep on the road!!
Opinions? Advise from you V4 chaps......thanks
Pete
