OK. Please refer to The Saab Journal #16 (1995) page 30,31 (sorry no scanner here) show how to use the average, garden variety engine stand and modify the mounting arms to the plate for the side mount of the V4 engine.
**With engine hanging safely on a cherry picker....***
Remove the 4 legs from the mount head. Then use 10mm x 1.5mm x 40mm bolts (3 of them) to attach the legs to the engine block (FIRST TAP THESE HOLES W/ 10MM x 1.5MM metric tap) --one just above the fuel pump mount, and the two rear "raised" holes aft of the dipstick tube, near the flywheel.)
Hold the mount head up against the legs, get things more or less contered and mark the legs for drilling. Set aside the mount head, remove the legs, center punch and drill them with 3/8" holes, Now bolt them to the mount head with 3/8" bolts, nuts and lock washers.
Fit the head assembly back against the V4 block and bolt it to the block. With all six bolts slightly loose, move the head around until it just snugs up under the lower stud for the exhaust manifold mounting. Now tighten the six bolts, remove the assembly, mark and center punch and drill the 3 holes in the mount head. ((figures are nice!)) Drill and secure all legs to the mount plate. refit and snug all bolts.
Ensure all securing bolts/nuts/screws/safety pins are in place !!
