"I should have said BESIDES THE ENGINE, what should I look to do while the engine and tranny is out of the way? Thanks!"
Sorry I misunderstood your meaning. Brian and Ernesto give excellent advice and I don't have a lot to add. The front motor mounts are pretty much forever items unless attacked by oil; the rear (transmission)mount is problematical. I think the guys in Sweden are offering new ones. If you see any separation of rubber from the outer ring on that one, it is failing.
If you have no complaints about vibration while cornering sharply under hard acceleration, say in second gear, then your drive axles are probably satisfactory. If the rubber boots are cracked (but not yet split through), it would be clever to replace them and refresh the grease in the joints since with the transmission out it is trivial to remove the axles for service. You may wish to deliver them to a professional for renewal.
Reversing the "drivers," ie the inner elements of the inner joint of the axle shaft that plug into the transmission, can alleviate axle shaft vibration problems from that source but is not a sure cure. Various cures exist for enough money but I won't go into that now.
If you care to disassemble the driven inner joint of a drive axle that has two caps and needle bearings, you can observe the condition of the pin that is the driving portion of the center axle member. (This is hard to describe in words, but I lack the wit to post pictures, so I hope you understand.) If you see grooves from needle bearing wear on the ends of the pin on the inner end of the pin (about 1/2" diameter) of the axle shaft, failure is happening.
You can drive a car a long time with various and numerous components in a failing condition. Carry on. K
