Dash turn signal indicator

I have a 72' 95. My turn signal indicator on my speedometer stays on solid green even when I shut the car off. It drains my battery. My signals and hazards work fine and the light blinks when they are engaged but the light stays solid when they are at rest. The only way I got it to turn off is by removing the flasher unit under the dash. Any ideas would be helpful.
