My 77 EMS had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I checked everything, plugs, injectors, coil, spark...everything. Someone told me it was my plugs, but I had already cleaned them several times.
As it turns out it was the plugs. Despite the plugs looking clean, there was a build up of carbon aroung the ceramic core that was preventing spark. A good does of carby cleaner and sandpaper soon had the car firing on all 4 cylinders.
Messing with the timing probalby does not help either but I can't help you there.
Best of Luck
Justin
