When you have any electrical problem in a 93/95/96 series SAAB, the first service to perform is to check the fuses. The metallic tips on those ceramic fuses tend to corrode over time, cutting off the current flow, and often the only service needed is to remove the fuse, and with emery cloth or fine steel wool, polish the metal tips of the fuse. Put the fuse back in and if the problem isn't solved, you know you have further diagnosing to do. I have had numerous electrical items stop working suddenly just because the corrosion on its fuse built up to the point that the current just stopped flowing.
