Does anybody out there in the Kingdom have a extra oil pump shaft and plastic fan blade? If I don't get one tomorrow a.m. from Ford will anyone send it to me C.O.D.? I am going to test the theory that a Festiva, Capri or other 4 cyl. Ford motor will have one the same size, if not, I will try a 6 cyl. one and possibly have to cut it to the correct size ... More tomorrow.

Careful study and observation showed:
1) I broke the nose cone of the starter, hence I will soon answer the Festiva started interchange question, expanding to all Bosch, VW's, Audi, BMW etc. by checking part number interchanges;
2) This motor already had someone else in it, as one observed the blue goo sealer around the timing chain/water pump area;
3) The gears in the motor appear to have been replaced and are 2 fiber and 1 metal, and are in good shape;
4) The oil pan had never been removed previous to this;
5) The oil pan and oil pump pick-up tube screen was pretty much plugged with varnish substance and recieved a good scrubbing and rinsing;
6) There were some metal shavings in the pan and pieces of a thin metal sheet thingy?, appearing to have come from the gasket? around the crank shaft area (identified by looking at the new one I bought), possibly from the gear replacement job;
7) The oil pump shaft between the oil pump and the distributer, which is 5 sided was pretty much rounded off in the oil pump side, and slightly shaved round in the distributer side, hence making the pump slip or be weak in pressure, if it could get oil through the strainer;
8) The exhaust pipe was cracked at the manifold flange area and will hopefully be brazed tomorrow;
9) There were no "spacers" in the exhaust pipe to manifold connection areas and their SAAB part number is 88 01466;

For $50.00 I purchased today:
1) The oil pan gasket kit 4 parts total: 1) one pan gasket; 2) one metal/rubber combo half moon gasket for the area around the gears; and, 3) two small wedge looking rubber pieces for the corners of the crank area where it meets the flat of the pan;
2) The spacers and gaskets for the exhaust pipe to manifold connection.

7 days and counting till I leave the state.

Any informational assistance with locating the last two parts (fan and oil pump shaft) is greatly appreciated. More tomorrow about the availability from dealers and interchanges between other Ford/Bosch 4cyl. parts.

Melanie
