Man, talk about intimidation. Let me guess, no damage to his big SUV... That's better than showing off your gun collection, I'll have to remember that one for when my daughter gets older.
If insurance covers it, I would just take it to the dealer. You can probably buy the new lights and submit the reciept along with the dealer bill to insurance.
If its not covered, and you feel like giving the guy a break, maybe look for a matching 150k headlight at the junkyard.
The whole setup with the grill seems pretty flimsy to me. I've seen people put mesh behind the grill, but I don't know if that gives it any more strength. Of course use some really good epoxy, or an slight bump will knock it loose. If you come up with a good gasket/silicon caulking, or better attachment idea, post it, because that whole flimsy connection has bugged me ever since I first popped the hood.
