Hi,
I finally found the shut off valve in my 1996 900 SE 2.5L V6 above the passenger side front tire. It has a cylindrical shape about 2 inch diameter by 2 inches long. It in enclosed in a plastic cover and connected with 1/2 inch hose ( about 6 inches long) to the charcoal canister. I have checked the valve and it seems to be working fine.
I measured 25 ohms between terminals and when I connect it to a 9v battery, the valve closes (it is open in its normal state). I would like to check if I have voltage in the terminals but to to that I need to activate the valve conector somehow since it seems like this valve is activated in certain times while driving. I don't have a TECH2. I have a generic scanner that I bought in Ebay and in reading the manual, it seems that I could activate the valve if I had the test ID code for the shut off valve. Does anyone have this code and if so could you give it to me? The other way that I think that I could test the wires is to access the ECU and check for continuity, but I think that this would mean alot of dismanteling. Another thing that I noticed is that the vacuum hoses connections were a little bit loose. I don't know if this could have cause the code P0446 to appear. This code seems to be very specific (short to voltage). I would appreciate any suggestions about this problem. Thank you very much, Fernando
