Possibly one of the hardest tasks. Had a similar problem on my old spg. Replaced inner drivers, replaced tires, rebalanced tires three times. Your frustation in understood. If the vibration has shown up right after your curb incident, sounds to me like a wheel or tire problem. You might want to try the cheaper stuff first. Find a shop with a high speed balancer. Maybe a shop with a Hunter GSP9700 wheel balancer machine. A few shops here in ATL area have them and have solved what seemed to be complicated vibration issues. Might be worth the few bucks to rule out, or fix, a wheel vibration. After that, as you say, you might be at the mercy of the mechanic. I'll link the hunter machine here and maybe you can find a place that has one of these machines. I had a wheel vibration issue when I bought my current '99 9-3SE. Dealer said 3 wheels were slightly bent. A new set of tires and a place with the hunter wheel balencer has solved the problem. Worth a try.
