An engine without oil will keep running until it gets stuck. When that happens, the pistons can be stuck in the bores. Sometimes they can be driven out of the bores, cleaned up and reused. But thats rare. So figure on the cost of new pistons and rings. The block should be oversized, thats more money. The bearings and seals should be replaced. But with dry bearings, the crankshaft may be scored. If its light damage, you can get by, otherwise you need a new or used crank. I don't know if you can grind it down and get thicker bearings. The rods should be ok, wrist pins seem to survive such abuse. The there are intake, exhaust and head gaskets. The coolant pump should be a new one with new adapter o-rings. And the shaft seals. All of the seals and gaskets should come in a kit. One might want to replace the timing and BS chains and tensioners. It will all add up.

For a loss of oil pressure, you only see the one light. No alarms. The oil pressure switches fail, so often no light. If you had lots of warning lights, it sound like the belt or idler pully failed and the engine was driven with no coolant pump, the coolant boiled off and the engine died from heat, not lack of oil. A warped head could result. Might be machinable, might not.

I have rebuilt a V8, three four bangers, and two marine engines. It is a lot of work, mostly in parts cleaning. Three were siezed... not my doing! Iron heads. One bearing shell spun and a 4 banger needed the cap and block surfaces brazed and line bored.
