I am not entirely sure what cars do and not do today. But I know that signals are fed back and forth between computers more and more in all cars.
Those signals are compared to stored values that the different computers have already logged in memory. If the ECU see that the signal doesn't add up to what it should be at that temp, speed, acceleration, braking etc, etc, it logs it as a fault.
I wouldn't be too surprised if the board behind speedo cluster is going bad (pretty much the whole back side of cluster) or that you might have a wire that is chafing against body frame somewhere inside dash.
I have seen many different problems with wire chafing on the NG900 model, lot more than the old body style. The problem could be to find the wire when taking the center dash and speedo cluster out.
A lot of times when removing parts, you actually move the wire away and everything is back to normal. Than you install all parts and the problem reappear.
