REM,
thanks for that exhaustive (and exhausting) list! I have not yet used an indy for maintenance/repairs, but I have just gone on a mad search to find a couple indy's who do work on Saabs and now I have their names/numbers and will not use my local Saab dealer again unless I absolutely HAVE TO.
I totally agree with the amount of 'attention' Saabs want/need. Two or three times a year *something* goes wrong which needs addressed and which costs at least $500 parts + labor.
This is my first Saab. I don't yet know if it will be my last. I don't like the body changes Saab made after 2003.
I have never worked on any car before in my life. I'm going to learn how to do very simple things on this car since cost is such a huge factor. I want to be one of those Saab owners who gets over 150K miles on their Saab. I just wonder if those who do get that kind of mileage actually spend a fortune maintaining their car, since I've had so many things go wrong between 40K and 65K miles.
BTW, My car is driving great now that it's been serviced (hey for $1,375 it should feel like new). I've def. noticed an improvement in acceleration. And with new rear shocks it's much smoother. I'd like to have another 12 - 18 months go by with no major repairs needed. Is that too much to ask???
