I recently had the timing belt, tensioner and pullies done. Check out my other posts. We all know that the timing system is weak, but I think that proper maintenance as highlighted in my post can prevent a lot of the failures that have occurred.

I am from England and I know the same engine has gone into thousands of opel omegas which have run up to 250k plus. Unlike alot of the european gm engines, this unit seems to not have a problem with internal blowups - something that other gm units have been known for.

You noted that the dealer does not see that many v6's. I would certainly ask when he did the last t belt and who did it. I took my car to an indie who knows the v6 well and can point out the problems before they occur. I just think that when it comes to these engines, it is better to be cautious.
