Hi folks, bad news:
My 95 900 SE-Turbo is running on 3 cyl., even compression on 3 cyl. (close to perfect, but mechanic said they were running lean), close to 0 on other, which was burning fat. As I was merging onto HWY last week, heard a whoosh sound (not whistle like turbo) from behind the dash, and as I got of the HWY, my flex pipe had given up. I assumed the extra roughness was simply the exhaust, but got the bad news today from my mechanic. He said I was going to need a valve job, he has to open it up to see if I need one or up to 4 new valves. He also said that the injectors could be responsible for the failure, if they are in turn faulty. How much $$$ am I looking at for a valve job? And for injectors$$$?

This car is driving me crazy. Since I bought it last sept. 2003, for 8000$CDN or about 6300$USD, I've opened my wallet for:

New clutch
New clutch cable
New parking brake cable
New valvle cover gasket
New A/C evaporator
New fan speed controler
New cabin temp. sensor
New thermocontact
Freon recharge
New front brake pads
Tie rod
Air filter
Reverse light switch
Check engine light
New SID
New radio (old one wouldn't accept it's code, looked at by clarion tech.)
Switched to synthetic oil because car was burning oil, this helped, until my car decided that 3 cyl. was enough to get me around...

Now I need a valve job, new flex pipe, my front bushings are showing signs of wear, rust is starting to come through at the door bottoms and trunk area... Is there an end in sight? I've always said to myself that an old SAAB would be troublesome, but would be practical, comfortable, safe and fun to drive, all at a monthly cost close to a lease on a new honda civic, so I figured this was a deal! Now though, it looks like I could be leasing a new SAAB for the headache this one is giving me. Maybe I should just take the bus...

Any thoughts?
Thanks people, you're great!

Richard
