My 94 SE went along pretty well up to 100k. At this point it is decision time, if you want to take a run at 150k or even 200k or dump it cheap before you have to do the 100k "freshening". This unfortunately consists of a lot of the things you mention plus DI, water pump and front suspension makeover. Did you witness the compression test? It is not common for these cars to eat valves. I would suspect the rough running at your mileage to be a DI cartridge (mine died at 105k) which can be had for 300.00 US. Once you invest this money on these repairs you should be in good shape to go to 150k.
Maybe have someone else diagnose your misfiring, I find the valve story hard to believe. You can save a lot by doing many of these things DIY. At 145k I am still on the original clutch, but have a very leaky rear seal. When mine gets to 150k, I will sell it cheap or donate to charity, and drive my 00 9-3 sitting in my garage idle.
