but had a no-start incident. It turned out to be the fuel pump, but as a first response, I tried the DI which was the easiest quick fix. Either way, I had myself a DI if needed, and this time it was.
I ran it for well over 200 miles. I let a family member borrow my baby for the day. They said it ran without a hitch - very zippy! When I got it back in the afternoon, I then needed to take a long trip down the Thruway to Rochester from Buffalo, and on the start, it ran rough. No CEL! I had no other means, so away I went, hoping it not to be totally dead, and maybe just bad gas (I always use Mobil Super+). Made it there, around, and then back. Then into work the next morning until home. Tried the plugs, no luck. Into work again and home, and changed to spare DI, and no more issues.
Good luck, and get Sally a spare DI. If not new, at least a running used one to get her home. Either ~$100 for a used/$350 for new spare and then maybe 15 minutes going extremely slow OR tow to dealer (?$100+?), Hour or more for labour and "diagnosis" ($80+), new DI with Dealer markup ($450+), and many hours wasted. Glad my info helped. I figured it was best to post the detail because my DI death was slightly different than complete shutdown, no power, burning epoxy smell. Sometimes you get lucky!

PLEASE NOTE: Your mileage WILL vary!!!! I had a similar misfire/roughness happen previously, and it simply went away. Seemed to happen after extended driving time followed by shutdown and startup within a short period. After that startup it would stumble a bit. Would go away after a "rest" which is why I was "holding" out. Family member did extended stop and go all day, which Paddi isn't used to! :-)
